Dr. Jennifer Chew received her dental training at UCSF School of Dentistry and graduated in 2009. A former news reporter, Dr. Chew understands the power of information and communication and how to utilize them to offer the best patient care possible.
Born in Korea and raised in Hawaii, Dr. Chew has been living in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1997. She has an amazing husband and two fun-loving boys who keep her very busy. In her free time, she enjoys making dishes from her childhood for family and friends—Kalbi, Portuguese bean soup, chocolate butter mochi, anyone?
Wanting to open her own practice with doctors who shared a similar dental philosophy and high standards of care, she teamed up with Dr. Poulose and Dr. Nishimori to make her dreams of opening Nest Dental a reality. She looks forward to treating you soon!
Dr. Preethi Poulose enjoys building patient trust with her gentle touch and calm bedside manner. She provides compassionate and conservative dentistry, and has had great success with the most fearful of patients. Although her original career plan was to go into scientific research, she found her true passion in dentistry because it blends science with her love of patient care.
A Bay Area native, Dr. Poulose has had a lifetime of academic success. She was valedictorian of Carlmont High School, graduated Magna Cum Laude from UCLA in Molecular Biology, received Honors in Patient Centered Care from UCSF School of Dentistry, and was awarded Resident of the Year at University of Texas, Houston Health Science Center.
In her free time, Dr. Poulose loves reading and spending time with her husband and 2 children.
We believe our total-team commitment to gentle, positive care sets us apart and keeps our patients coming back year after year. From your interactions with our front desk staff to our hygienists and doctors, you will always be shown empathy and kindness by a professional who puts your comfort first. Here are some of the smiling faces you might meet at your next visit!
When you walk through our doors, you can expect to be greeted with a smile from one of our friendly front desk team members. From there, one of our registered dental assistants or hygienists will get you ready for your exam with one of our doctors. Your new patient visit will last about 90 minutes, and will take place entirely with your doctor.
After reviewing your medical and dental history, your dentist will perform a comprehensive exam of not just your teeth, but your gums, and the soft tissue of your head and neck. We'll take a full set of digital x-rays, including a digital panoramic x-ray that shows the upper and lower jaws in their entirety. In addition, we will also complete an oral cancer screening and take a dental health scan. We repeat this dental health scan every year to keep track of changes in your oral health over time, such as gum recession, wear and tear, cracks, and much more.
Once your exam has been completed, we'll discuss our findings with you and go over our recommended treatment plan and present other available options. Your doctor will perform a thorough cleaning and then go over their recommended home care.
Rest assured that no matter the reason for your visit, you’ll be cared for and treated with compassion and positivity.
From your first visit to Nest Dental, we know you’ll feel right at home.
